Iris & Romeo
My beauty routine is usually quite simple: moisturizer and sunscreen. Depending on timing and mood, I do have some basics that I put on, usually either eyeliner or lipstick. However, every few years I have a phase where I suddenly become interested in the subject matter and immerse myself in the beauty-world of YouTube make-up tutorials and Sephora stores. I don’t know what triggers these phases, but I’ve learned to just go along with them.
During these phases, my make-up drawer gets a make-over. And one of the things that I added this time around is this moisturizer from Iris & Romeo. I’m happy with what I have, but this came recommended by one of the coolest women I know, Juliane Camposano, a powerhouse creative director and designer, who has worked in the beauty industry for 20+ years.
It’s a serum, moisturizer, sheer coverage, sunscreen (SPF 25), and blue light/pollution protector in one. Founder Michele Gough Baril stepped out on her own after a career at Smashbox Cosmetics and has focused on changing the conversation for skincare for women 40+. Away from anti-aging, to modern, easy, and effortless. Who really wants to turn back time? I don’t think that’s where women are or how they feel about their age (read Michele’s story here).
I love the cream, it has a beautiful rose fragrance and gives a subtle, dewy complexion. I don’t usually wear foundation, so the coverage of the moisturizer to me is more than I expected (not at all in a bad way). The price is much more than I usually spend on skincare ($64 for 1.75 ounces), so I am using this more like a tinted moisturizer every once in a while, and not as daily skincare.
Founder: Michele Gough Baril
Price point: $64
My favorite: She only offers one product
Notes: I use the skincare as a tinted moisturizer and not instead of my usual skincare because I don’t always want the coverage.
